Central govt clears the process for International airport at Vijayawada. Tenders are called for the upgradation of existing airport to International airport. 18 companies are short listed and final company will be announced on June 15. For some time this airport will work as associated airport to an International airport and then mak as International airport.

It would be nice if Vijayawada can get better connectivity with this airport expansion. The city really needs connectivity to attract companies to open facilities in Vijayawada. But nobody can really tell if this is just another election gimmick!
