Hyderabad, Tirupati, Vizag zoos to be developed.

Minister for Forests, Environment, Science and Technology P Ramachandra Reddy has said that an international consultancy would be appointed for developing zoological parks at Tirupati, Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam.

Speaking to mediapersons here today, he said that Papikondalu sanctuary was given a national park status. The State Government was taking all precautions while giving permission for mining operations in the forest area. In Orissa, mining operations were done upto to a depth of 40 metres in the forest area and later the license-holders were filling up the pits and planting saplings, he said. Many habitations came up in the forest land and forests were degraded due to agriculture activities in Visakhapatnam district he added.

Steps would be taken to fill up vacant posts, he said adding that when compared to other departments staff in the Forest Department was less. Principal Chief Conservator of Forests P Siva Shankar Reddy and Chief Conservator of Forests N Prateep Kumar were also present.

Vizag To Be An Alternative Media Hub

Director of Sontha Vooru, Sunil Kumar Reddy says that technicians from Orissa and Bengal are going all the way to Chennai for post-production or any other work in connection with films. To develop Vizag as another media hub for film-loving people, they have held a workshop on July 18 and 19 on Films and TV, this has been organized by Future Frames, a post-production studio. The topic was '24 Frames'. K. Vijay Kumar was the co-ordinator. Head of the Department of Journalism of Andhra University Prof. Bobbi Vargan, Sunil Kumar Reddy were the directors of the work shop.

Relangi Narasimha Rao, cameramen MV Raghu, Sabu James, Yarlagadda Sailaja from Doordarshan, Producers Vijay Prasad and Y. Ravindra Babu were the guests who conducted the classes. Thirty members registered themselves as delegates. Another day, a workshop was held for Electronic Videographers. The organizers want to make it a regular affair every year with different topics, to enhance and upgrade the knowledge of would be technicians and existing ones
