XLRI to set up campus in Hyderabad

Our Bureau

Hyderabad, Sept. 21

The Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI), Jamshedpur, one of the top five management institutes in the country, has decided to set up a campus in Hyderabad.

This decision comes in the wake of a 3-year long persuasion by the officials of Andhra Pradesh Government and a personal invitation extended by the Chief Minister, Mr K Rosaiah, in August 2010, requesting the board of this prestigious institute to make Hyderabad its second home.

Governing Board of XLRI, at its meeting held on September 4, has discussed the letter written by the Chief Minister and approved the proposal to have a camps at Hyderabad as per his invitation.

A delegation comprising of Fr E. Abraham, Director, XLRI, Jamshedpur, Mr C.L.George, Dean (Administration Finance), XLRI and Fr G.A.P. Kishore, Rector, Loyola Academy, Secunderabad, today called on the Chief Minister at the Secretariat to inform him of the decision of the board of the institute about their Hyderabad plans.

Fr Abraham sought 75 acres of land from the Government to develop appropriate facilities to maintain the institute's brand value. The land is proposed to be given at Jawahar Nagar on the outskirts of the city to the institute on the same terms and conditions applied for BITS, Pilani at Hyderabad. The Chief Minister directed allotment of land within 15 days.

Along with the XLRI delegation, a group of representatives from Alexandria, a US Pension Fund House, including Mr Vishal Goel, Managing Director/Head of India, among others met the Chief Minister . Mr Goel and his colleagues informed that Alexandria in principle agreed to finance the XLRI's proposed campus at Hyderabad.
